PostSubject: Practice Session   Thu Apr 18, 2013 12:37 am

Antonio arrived early in the VIP room where the employees were to meet for rehearsal that afternoon. Usually he would have been waiting tables out in the restaurant at this time, but he had been told that as a new performer, the practice session was mandatory for him. Antonio didn’t mind, knowing he would be paid either way and well aware that he would need this training if he was ever going to be ready to perform on stage the way the others did. Looking around, he saw that no one else was in the room yet. The Spanish man took a deep breath, feeling a knot of nervousness twist in his belly. Sure, he had been on stage several times before during his regular dance performances, but this would be his first night working here, and even though he had done a lot of dancing, he had never done anything quite like this.

Antonio was not shy about his body. The former dance instructor worked out regularly and was nicely toned from all the dancing and occasional weight-lifting he did. He was just not used to being stared at while wearing anything but his usual outfits, and he had never coordinated his dance moves with, well...undressing. He was confident he could learn, however, and knew he would enjoy the attention, the way he always did when anyone watched him perform.

Antonio walked over to the practice stage and sat down on the edge, waiting for his new co-workers to arrive. The idea of being up in front of people again since the closing of his school was unnerving, but also very exciting. There was a part of him that was more than a little eager to get started.

Anabel stretched herself out as she stood from her sewing machine. She was always busy working on costumes for herself or others, whether they asked for it or not. It was just something she really enjoyed doing. Checking the clock on the wall, she noticed that it was about time for the training session and she smiled to herself. Well, no point in wasting anymore time. She packed the materials back up and started down to the practice room.

She poked her head in and saw Antonio and smiled. "Hey!" She waved at him as she walked over and plopped down on the stage next to him. "Here for practice, huh? Look forward to seeing what you can do!" She was familiar with the sort of nervousness that came from performing for the first time after having done something else and simply observing the others.

Antonio looked up when he heard the door open and grinned at the woman that appeared at the entrance. He had been briefly introduced to the other staff members when he had been hired here, but he hadn’t had the chance to have a proper conversation with any of them yet. Fidgeting a bit, he tried to remember this lady’s name.

“Hol- I mean, hello!” Antonio replied, catching himself before he slipped into Spanish, the way he usually did when he was nervous. “You’re Anabel, right?” His cheeks were a bit flushed, but the Spaniard laughed it off and rubbed the back of his neck. His hand came back damp with sweat. Antonio cleared his throat and wiped his palm on the pants subtly, trying not to look as flustered as he felt. He was usually so good with people, but the pressure of wanting to impress his new co-workers was making him act like a new kid in school. He finally forced himself to look Anabel in the eyes and give her a genuine smile.

“I look forward to showing you.”

Elizaveta dabbed the eyeshadow across the woman's eyes, relishing in how the color seemed to meld perfectly with her skin tone. "It's looking gorgeous-"

"Veta! You'll be late for that training session if you don't hurry!"

"Ahhhh...just a sec!" She quickly grabbed the stick of lipstick sitting nearby, awaiting its turn, and slid it cleanly across the woman's lips. The color of tulips added the perfect feminine wash to her face, and with a smile adorning Elizaveta's, she quickly murmured, "Ok, you can open." The woman, upon opening her eyes and turning to peer in the lengthy mirror beside her, gasped. With a splendid amount of compliments hurled Veta's way, the woman stood up and practically skipped from the building, a magnificent smile donning her face as she walked.

Veta immediately started grabbing her make-up and brushes, shoving them haphazardly into her bag while she shouted, "Thanks so much, Aunt Matilda!" Flinging the bag onto her shoulder and slipping her ballet flats onto her feet, she darted from her station of the beauty parlor, dashing out the door. The bell signaled her leave to anyone still working on patrons - including the owner of the parlor, Matilda Coffphrey. Or, better known as Aunt Matilda to many of the girls. That included Elizaveta, who had no surrounding family anywhere close to her, and who relied on Matilda for help and guidance in the massive London atmosphere - especially as she looked upon Matilda as a mother.

She burst into the club not moments before the session was to begin, immediately pushing past early customers and into the little hallway that led toward employee rooms. Finding an empty closet, she threw her make-up and accessories bag into the corner, immediately shutting the door and locking it. Running over to the bag and pulling out a dress, she sighed. Yes, she didn't mind stripping most of the time - perhaps today was a different story. Under the weather and tired didn't help promote creativity to a performer. So, with a sigh, she slipped the dress on, slipping her clothes into her bag and leaving the closet. She took one look at herself in one of the body-length mirrors lining the wall, instantly smiling at the curves dotting her lengthy body. The dress itself showed off enough for the time being - completely made out of black lace and lined with sparkling sequins around the chest, the dress was the perfect enunciation for her body. The fact that it ended mid-thigh was one thing; the attention it attracted was a whole other.

"No time for admiring, Veta," she hissed to herself, still wearing ballet flats as she dashed towards the VIP room, nearly tripping on the recently polished floor. Supposedly the new performer was going to be there today, and that was something she was dying to see. Bursting into the room, she skidded haphazardly and, taking one long look at the street outfits of both people in the room, shouted her greeting: "I thought we were supposed to dress up!!"

Anabel grinned at Antonio and could tell how nervous he was and how anxious. She nodded when he guessed her name. "Yup! Anabel at your service! A little nervous there, deary?" She thought it was actually pretty cute how nervous he was, though she didn't blame him. First times always made people nervous. "Just try to relax, okay? It's just practice so you can take your time to just get into it, okay? Absolutely no rush~" She hoped her words would be of some comfort or help or something.

She jumped at the sound that was made when Elizaveta burst into the room and almost slipped and laughed when she saw it was just her friend. "Veta don't kill yourself!" She smiled warmly and hopped down from the stage. "Well, since its his first time, I need to figure out what to do for his outfit! And his size too, of course. But you're looking great as always, girl!"

Antonio nodded in response to Anabel’s advice, knowing that he really should not be as stressed out about this as he felt. It was only a practice session, after all, and any mistakes he made could be corrected before he actually had to perform on stage. He just hoped he would be able to impress his co-workers and make a good first impression.

“Thank you. I’m sure I’ll be fine once I get the hang of it.”

He jumped when Anabel did and turned to look in surprise as the new lady came into the room. He offered her the same friendly smile, chucking a little at her entrance. At her comment, Antonio had a moment of worry, wondering if he had somehow missed some instructions on the dress code for this practice session. The former instructor didn’t own a very expansive wardrobe, and he was much more comfortable in casual attire that he was sure would give him the mobility he needed to perform his dance moves. Anabel’s comment put him at ease, however. It seemed his outfit would be determined later. Antonio remembered hearing something about his costumes being provided by the club’s costume designer by the time he was actually scheduled to perform.

The new woman was not familiar to him. Maybes she hadn’t been there when he had first been introduced to some of the staff. Antonio surely would have remembered her, the way she presented herself and was impeccably dressed. Standing up, he walked over to greet his new co-worker, offering her a hand to shake.

“Nice to meet you! I’m Antonio.”

Hearing Anabel's response, she nodded. It made sense - having a new guy suddenly arrive on the scene made it difficult to decide on the size of the outfit, she knew that much. Quickly scanning him with her eyes, she couldn't hide the smile that revealed itself - he was cute, she decided that much. She was just excited to see his moves now. "Hi, Elizaveta. But everyone just calls me Veta~" Taking his hand, she shook it, still smiling that stupidly ridiculous grin of hers.

Turning to Anabel, she gently trotted over, sitting on the edge of the stage and sighing. "You say I look great...but I feel like shit," she murmured, splaying out across the stage and moaning softly. Let's see, she had a headache, a sore throat, and the need and desire to curl up in a corner and sleep. ...Not the best mix for a performer, especially one practicing, but it was the best she was able to give at the moment. "Should we get this started, or are we waiting for someone else?"

Anabel watched Elizaveta just sort of collapse on the stage and frowned. "Hey, what's wrong? Feeling sick? I know there's medicine somewhere if you need?" She didn't like seeing her friend like this, but she understood it would be no good to miss a practice session no matter the circumstance. And if she could still perform, then she would be encouraged to do so. Even so, medicine might be able to help.

"Hm, I'm not sure. I think it's basically for anyone who can make it. But we can get started at any time... If more people show up they can just jump in if they like." She shrugged a little. "It would make sense if other new employees showed up, but we can still help Antonio practice."

Antonio smiled back as he shook Veta’s hand and watched her go lay down on the stage. The woman really didn’t look like she was ready to practice performing, despite her impressive appearance. The Spanish man furrowed his eyebrows in worry, but he could see that Veta wasn’t the type of woman to quit just because she wasn’t feeling one hundred percent.

“I don’t mind waiting if you want to get yourself some medicine first,” Antonio told the lady politely. It was true that he was itching to get started already, but he didn’t want his new coworker to suffer. “Maybe Anabel can introduce me to the basics in the meantime.”

He had a feeling he had a lot to learn. It was difficult for him to just start dancing without being familiar with the club’s routine, but Antonio knew he would be able to add his own style once he got the feel for what was expected of him. He wondered if anyone else would show up to the practice session. For now he was happy to know he’d be practicing with two kind and friendly ladies.

((Hope you guys don't mind me popping in here. ^^))

Yao was cleaning and organizing the glasses behind the bar. The club hadn't been open for long, the only customers there either didn't have anything else do to or were waiting for a private show, perhaps the VIP room. The shows wouldn't start for another few hours, at least the more active and revealing shows. There was no point in wearing out the performers when there wasn't money to be earned. For now the early birds would have to be satisfied with some small strip teases and enjoy the music. At least they'll be warmed up by the time the sun went down and the real shows started.

He had finished putting away the glasses when he saw Veta hurry in the club to the employee room. Yao glanced at his wrist watch to catch the time. Oh, yeah..there should be a practice session going on around this time. As a host he was always around for nearly every show, but could never really enjoy them as there was always customers to be taken care of and flirted with. Although rehearsal gave Yao a chance to see what he was missing out on. He also noticed that the performers were much more relaxed during practice than on stage. Probably because they weren't under the same stress. Looking around the lounge, seeing that the customers were content at least for a while, Yao walked down the small hallway back into the employee practice room.

It was much better lit in the back room, causing Yao to wince a bit as his eyes adjusted to the bright light from the dimly lit lounge. Inside he saw Veta and Anabel, looking glamorous as usual, even though Veta looked a bit flushed. In the performing area he saw the new guy, Antonio. Yao had seen him and Bushy Brows talking a lot and overheard something about dancing. He had a decent build in Yao's opinion, not too built but had some definition in his body that would make him appealing to the customers. Probably not a pole dancer, but could probably move those hips like no one's business.

"Sorry, if I'm interrupting, aru." Yao took a seat on the far side of the room, making sure he was out of the way. "I'm just here to watch and take a break before the crowd comes in."

Anabel sighed a little, noticing how much her friend's condition was affecting her. "I think it would be best to just take to you lie down for a bit in one of the room upstairs, okay? I'm sure you'll feel better in no time!" She smiled and helped Elizaveta towards the door. Before leaving, Yao entered and she smiled. "No, you're not interrupting anything! We're just going to be showing Antonio here the basics! Except, well, Veta's not feeling well so I'll just be right back!" She waved a little as she walked out, supporting her friend.

She returned not too long after and smiled at both Yao and Antonio. "She's resting now. She should be alright." She sighed and returned to sit on the stage. "Now, where do you want to start?" She smiled at Antonio and crossed her legs. "Do you have any moves or ideas of where to start? Just to show me what you got?"

Antonio watched Anabel escort Veta towards the door. He hoped his new coworker would recover soon so that they would be able to continue practicing together. He wouldn’t have been surprised if he didn’t see her again that day, though, with how ill she looked. Giving Veta one last sympathetic look, he turned his attention to the new man who came in through the door just as the two women left. Oh, another coworker...Antonio knew that he had seen him before when he had been out serving, but he didn’t remember his name if Arthur had told him. He really did have a horrible memory...

“Hello there,”
he greeted once the two of them were alone. “I’m Antonio. It’s nice to meet you! You’re a host here, right?”

He walked away from the stage to offer the other his hand to shake. Since the Spaniard worked both on stage and as a server, he had the opportunity to meet the employees of almost every position. Antonio offered his co-worker a friendly smile, hoping that the two of them would get along just fine. He had been rather fortunate with the people he had met so far.

When Anabel returned, Antonio welcomed her and followed her back in the direction of the stage. He was glad to hear Veta was resting and would be okay. It seemed he would have to wait to get to know her better, however. At Anabel’s question, the Spaniard cocked his head a bit and hummed in thought.

“Well, I have a few routines...I used to be a dance instructor, you know. I can show you part of my older performances and improvise with the rest,”
he added with a grin. He didn’t want to admit that he had never actually stripped while dancing before. Well, how hard was it to take off your clothes? He had done it often enough under different contexts...

Taking a small music player from his bag, Antonio climbed up on the stage and hooked it up to the machine that controlled the speakers. His hands were shaking a bit, but he tried to calm himself down and remember that this was just another performance. Vamos a bailar! He pushed the button for the first song- one of his favorites- and moved himself to the center of the stage, moving his hips slightly in time with the intro. His nervousness quickly faded as the familiarity of the song coaxed his body into the well-practiced moves, his muscles remembering the motions without Antonio even having to think about it. As his confidence grew, the Spaniard moved faster, picking up his pace and feeling a warm bubbling start up in his chest from his love for the music. This felt great!

(Translation: Vamos a bailar= We're going to dance! It's a line from the song Toni is dancing to http://youtu.be/1nafspm_qPc
