Character Name: Ludwig Beilschmidt
Age: 25
Appearance: Ludwig is a tall and well built man. His days on the force has instilled the habit of working out as a means of getting fit, focusing his mind, and recently, control his mutant powers. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. His blue eyes has become unaturally lighter, almost glowing, because of his mutations. He hides them behind thick rimmed glasses. His glasses also makes his stoic expressions to be more intimidating.
Ludwig wears clothes that could only be described as 'unflattering'. Most of the time he wears a long sleeved button up shirt with a tweed jacket. Sometimes he wears a sweater vest. When it gets hot, he just wears a plain t-shirt. Ludwig doesn't own more than one pair of shoes. He's not the one to be fashionable as he is desperately trying to keep a low profile.
His body has a huge scar which runs down the length of his back. It's shaped like a column of lightning He had got it from the first time his mutant power surfaced in the power plant.
Mutant Abilities: Electrokinesis.
Ludwig is a living generator. His body emits high voltage of electricity all the time. The electricity he emits is highly unstable, so it creates something akin to an electrical field around his body. When it first appeared, Ludwig had little to no control of it. He could shock a person just by having physical contact. Ludwig can't completely stop emitting electricity. He could only lower the voltage so he won't accidentally shock someone.
Lowering the voltage comes with a price. It causes energy build up inside him. Once a month Ludwig has to go to an isolated area and release the energy. Usually the vast amount of electricity he discharges attract lightning to shoot down. When this happens his body acts as a conductor and redirects the lightning through him and into the ground. If the energy build up is left unattended, Ludwig's body could expel it in the form of an electromagnetic wave which could short circuit any electrical appliances within range.
Where Do You Stand?: Neutral
Mutant/Brotherhood Code Name: None
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Personality: On the early years of his career with the NYPD, Ludwig was proud. The uniform he wore made sure of it. His pride could be said to be borderline arrogance. He thought he was the best. This confidence made him to be a leader. He was a very serious person, who takes the initiative and went ahead the team. He strifed to do everything perfectly, but he wanted everyone else to do the same. He developed a temper when things do not go his way. His time in the NYPD matured him to some degree. The arrogance wilted away and his temper cooled down to mild patience.
Although, he was still proud of his work and his abilities.
He changed after the accident with his mutant powers happened. Constantly, he blames himself for the loss of his comrades. Many nights of drinking came from his grief. Some nights he would drink himself to sleep in his room. Other nights he would go out to a nearby pub and sullenly sit at a corner to quietly drink from his glass. The drinking distracted his depressing thoughts at night. He couldn't do much but lose himself in a book or two in the morning.
Background: Ludwig was a cop. He was proud to be one. It was his childhood dream, ever since he saw one of the boys in blue. They seemed so strong and sturdy to Ludwig with their uniforms and shiny badges. He loved to watch superheroes in the Saturday morning TV shows, so the police were like real life superheroes for him; catching bad guys, putting them in prison, and upholding justice. He looked up to them and soon enough he wanted to be one of them. Unfortunately it didn't last long. It all ended when he and a couple of other cops were chasing a criminal into a power plant. His mutant powers were dormant up until that point. The huge amount of electricity around him reacted to the one inside him, making it wild and unstable. It resulted in a huge power surge which almost blew up the power plant, but it did manage to set it on fire.
Ludwig didn't come out of it uninjured. He had a wound running down his back as if a lightning had struck him. Doctors said that it was because of the high voltage of electricity that shocked his systems, which was very similar to a bolt of lightning. He was very lucky, they had told him. Everyone else was dead; except for him.
He knew it wasn't luck. It was his mutant powers. He had felt it burst from inside, reacting to the electricity around him. As it grew stronger and wilder, Ludwig quit the force when too many people started to ask questions. He also didn't want to hurt anybody.
Ludwig retreated into a quiet life of selling books. Luckily the place he bought had a small room upstairs for him to live in. His bookshop became his life. The shop was perfect. It was small and tucked away in a little corner. Not many people came to the shop, but there were enough to keep the shop going. He wanted a quiet and secluded life; and he's determined to keep it that way.
