Sexuality: Bisexual (but he's very modest and very secretive about his sexuality, etc.)
Personality: Matthew is polite, but unfortunately very shy. He tends to blend into the background most times. He is both very artistic, and very athletic, though he lacks the confidence to actually try out for any kind of sports teams. He loves all forms of art, from literature to visual art to music of all kinds.
Matthew finds learning and participating in school a rewarding experience, even when he doesn't make many friends, because of this, he enjoys taking a variety of classes instead of choosing a major field of study. He has yet to decide on his future after graduation, and hopes that being open minded and attending the prestigious academy will give him a better idea of what he wants to do with his life.
Background: Growing up in an average household in Canada, Matthew spent most of his childhood immersed in books, or drawing by himself. He was always shy and had trouble making friends, though he wasn't bullied much as he tended not to react to it and people mainly left him alone.
In school, Matthew always tried his best to excel. His grades were never perfect, but he managed to keep them very high, and put his best effort into projects and tests. Getting a good grade always gave him a sense of pride even if his parents never made a big deal out of it. He was always energetic and athletic, and would participate in any sports or games that other people would let him join, though he could never muster the courage to go to try-outs for any official school teams.
When Matthew received his invitation to World Academy, he was excited but intimidated. He never imagined he'd get the chance to attend such a reknowned school, but he also wasn't sure he could keep up with such a high-paced environment. Even so, he didn't see a reason not to try, and headed off for the school right away. Once there, he found himself intimidated again by his peers, many of whom he felt were smarter than him, and immersed himself in schoolwork to keep himself busy. When this isn't enough, Matthew has decided he might try for some clubs or extracurricular activities, but is still too shy to approach the appropriate people and join.
On a side note, Matthew couldn't leave his beloved stuffed polar bear Kumajiro behind, and snuck it to the academy with him, he tries desperately to keep it hidden in case someone were to enter his dorm and find out about his childish secret.
